If the tattoo is medium or large in size, Dr. Cabbabe may recommend serial excision. In this manner, Dr. Cabbabe takes advantage of the natural elasticity of the skin and the tattoo is excised in 2 or 3 stages, thereby reducing the size of the scar that would be needed to remove the tattoo in one session.
