Age is just a number — this 65-year-old patient proved that in a big way. ⭐️
After significant weight loss, she underwent a mommy makeover that included a Fleur-de-lis tummy tuck and a breast lift without implants. The reason for the Fleur-de-lis is important: in addition to the skin we would normally remove with a standard tummy tuck, she had an additional 6 inches of horizontal excess skin across the abdomen. A standard tummy tuck alone cannot remove that horizontal laxity, which is why the Fleur-de-lis was necessary to properly reshape the abdomen and waist.
This is actually something I am currently studying and writing about — when patients have this much horizontal excess skin, a Fleur-de-lis is often the correct operation because it allows us to remove skin both vertically and horizontally and truly reshape the abdomen rather than just pull the skin downward.
There is a common misconception that patients in their 60s are “too old” for surgery. The reality is that healthy patients in their 60s often do extremely well and can have life-changing improvements in comfort, clothing fit, and confidence. We perform these procedures using drainless techniques, and patients like this routinely do very well after surgery.

This patient previously had a breast lift and then underwent weight loss, which left her with loose skin of the arms, armpit, outer chest, and breast deflation. We performed an upper body lift including arm lift, armpit lift, outer chest lift, along with a breast lift and 550 cc implants placed subfascial with a mesh internal bra for long-term support and shape. 💪⭐
In upper body surgery, scar location is critical. The arm lift, armpit lift, outer chest lift, and breast lift scars must be designed and connected correctly in order to reshape the entire upper body as one unit.
