Massive weight loss is an incredible achievement, but for many patients, it’s only the first step.

✈️ This patient flew across the country not once, but twice, to complete her transformation.

One of the biggest misconceptions in plastic surgery is that a breast lift and a breast reduction are completely different procedures.

In reality, they’re performed using the same surgical techniques. The difference is how much breast tissue is removed.

A true lift isn’t just moving the nipple higher. To create a rounder, firmer, longer-lasting breast shape, the breast tissue must be reshaped—and in many cases, that means removing some tissue. Without that internal reshaping, simply raising the nipple often doesn’t create the result most patients expect.

Many women are also surprised to learn that a lift alone does not reliably restore upper-pole fullness. If your goal is a fuller look in the upper part of the breast, an implant or fat transfer may be needed in addition to the lift.

Every patient is different, which is why the best procedure depends on your anatomy and your goals—not just the name of the operation.

✨ How Tight Will My Skin Stay After Skin Removal Surgery? ✨

One of the most common questions I get is, “Will my skin stay tight?”

The answer depends on two completely different things:

✅ Skin excess – This can be surgically removed.

✅ Skin quality – This cannot be changed. If your skin has lost elasticity from aging, weight loss, or pregnancy, surgery can’t make it behave like it did years ago.

Another major factor is whether your surgeon is actually recommending the correct operation. For example, if a fleur-de-lis tummy tuck is needed but only a standard tummy tuck is performed, you may still have significant looseness—even immediately after surgery.

That’s why it’s so important to choose a surgeon who is experienced in all major skin removal procedures, not just one or two. In our high-volume revision practice, we frequently see patients who underwent the wrong procedure and ultimately require additional surgery to achieve the result they wanted.

Every patient is different, and the goal is to match the right procedure to your anatomy—not force every patient into the same operation.
