An arm lift, or brachioplasty, can restore shape and contour to the arms by removing excess skin and fat. For most women, this involves a 2-hour outpatient procedure with minimal recovery time. In heavier patients with thicker arms, Dr. Cabbabe will discuss the option of a staged procedure with liposuction first to aggressively contour the arms followed by skin excision at a later time. The advantage in this scenario is that more contouring of the arms can be done and overall safety, lower complication rate. In patients who are having multiple procedures done and will require 2 surgeries, this is an appealing option.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

In carpal tunnel syndrome, one of the main nerves to the hand, the median nerve, gets compressed in an area called the carpal tunnel located near the wrist. When this happens, the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger become numb. Patients often shake their hands to get the feeling back in these fingers. This tends to happen when people are driving, working on the computer or sleeping. It can become so severe that the muscles in the hand become affected and weaken, causing clumsiness.

Lower Body Lift

For those who have had weight loss or desire complete torso/hip/buttock re-contouring/re-shaping, including the abdomen, flanks, hips, back and buttocks, there is no more powerful procedure than a lower body lift in St. Louis. This is an extremely challenging procedure and most plastic surgeons have never even performed one, including surgeons who perform tummy tuck surgery regularly. This is the one procedure that Dr. Cabbabe insists patients see only an extremely experienced combination body contouring/lipo AND skin removal expert for and if necessary, travel. If a prior tummy tuck has already been performed, it will need to be revised as a part of the procedure.

Mini-Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty

This procedure in St. Louis, Missouri, is ideal for patients that have extra skin and/or fat below their belly button but not above. Patients at their ideal body weight who have lost skin elasticity from childbirth are excellent candidates. During the procedure, Dr. Cabbabe removes the extra skin and fat from below the belly button and tightens the muscles of the lower abdomen to improve the contour. Liposuction is incorporated as needed. As opposed to a full tummy tuck/abdominoplasty, the belly button/umbilicus is not relocated and the upper abdominal muscles are not tightened. Generally, a greater amount of liposuction is required to contour and shape the torso.

Dr. Cabbabe’s revision body contouring practice has grown significantly as more patients choose weight loss surgery and cosmetic surgery to meet their goals. Not all cosmetic surgeons are board – certified plastic surgeons and even then, not all board-certified plastic surgeons have the same level of technical ability, experience and expertise. The need for greater skin removal, increased use of liposuction and long operating room times lead to significant disparities in patient outcomes, often adverse in inexperienced hands.
