Dr. Copeland, a native of northwestern Missouri, moved to Columbia, Missouri in 1971 to attend the University of Missouri. He attained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979, then completed General Surgery residency, a one year Microvascular Fellowship, and his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since completion of his formal training in 1987, he has been in plastic surgery practice in St. Charles and St. Louis counties. During that time he has been active in local and state medical societies as past president of the St. Charles-Lincoln County Medical Society and as a councilor to the Missouri State Medical Association. He is chairman of the Board of Directors of Primaris, the Missouri Quality Improvement Organization, and is on the board of the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. Dr. Copeland is the immediate past Chief of Staff of Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. He has also been active in medical staff leadership, serving as Chief of Staff at St. Joseph Health Center-Hospital West in St. Charles, Missouri in 1997. He is a published author, with papers related to his work in microvascular surgery. Dr. Copeland is the current president of the Missouri Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
